Pierce is a town of about 1,100 people on US-85, sixteen miles north of Greeley and twenty-one from Fort Collins by way of CO-14. It was incorporated in 1918 and named for General John Pierce, president of the Denver Pacific Railroad, which is the reason a town this size has a Main Street at all.
