Christine and Drew's Home Buying Journey
By Christine Gwinnup · 2023-01-02
Drew and I left Loveland (and it's new-found traffic), and bought a home in Nunn, Colorado in 2019. We moved into our new home in February, just before the pandemic. We loved our home in Nunn but the problem was that we needed a shop or garage for our cars, Harley and ALL of Drew's tools. We decided the best way to prepare for a recession was to purchase a fixer upper. So in July of 2022, that's what we did. We sold our Nunn home and bought a fixer-upper in Pierce. The house is UGLY! Drew calls it "Smurf Blue". We have a list of items to fix up before we sell or rent it out this coming year. It's a LONG To-Do List and we get overwhelmed. The stove quits working off and on. The refrigerator leaks, the water heater yells at us with each shower, and it had the wood panelling from the 60s. It's also a bi-level which we don't love the look of but with the kids living with us for the year, it has been perfect! We each get our own space and separate entrances, which has been great!
One issue that came up is that the bathroom downstairs had a tub, but no shower. The kids were having to come up to our bathroom to get ready for work and school. With four of us, you know how tough that can be. So one of Drew's first projects was to make a shower. He tiled the bathroom and added a shower instead of just a bathtub. I love the way it turned out and I just had to share. We will be posting our failures and our successes, so you can laugh and cry with us along the way.
